چکیده

The steering performance of off-road tires on sandy soil has a great influence the maneuverability vehicle, which long been studied by scholars. However, discrete element method (DEM) modeling tire sand is still lacking. In this paper, an model established using method, and parameters are calibrated based triaxial compression test inclined plate experiment. Then, verified reduced-scale single wheel bin under straight-driving condition. Finally, radius, roll angle, slip rate process studied. results show that reduction in radius slight drawbar pull driving torque but greater growth lateral force, aligning torque, sinkage. sideslip angle play important role pull, drive torque. small force

Discrete element simulation on mechanical properties of modified sandy gravel

Through the laboratory experiments, the mechanical properties of sandy gravel are obtained. Then, based on the slump tests, a modified sandy gravel model is developed by PFC (particle flow code of three dimensions), to which relevant microscopic parameters are assigned to numerically simulate the laboratory experiments. The laboratory test results are compared with that of the numerical simulat...

Numerical Discrete Element Simulation Of Soil Direct Shear Test

One of the most common methods to measure soil mechanical properties (namely cohesion and internal friction angle) is direct shear box test. In this paper the development of a three-dimensional (3D) discrete element soil model for simulation of a cohesive soil’s direct shear test is presented. The aim was to calibrate the properties of the Hertz-Mindlin with bonding contact model available in E...

Numerical investigation on the pullout shear strength of soil-nail interface using finite element method

Soil nailing is a popular reinforcement method for stabilizing slopes, excavations, and retaining walls in many countries. The pullout capacity of the soil-nail interface is a critical parameter for the design and safety assessment of soil-nailed systems. In this paper, a three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model is developed using the commercial program ABAQUS to simulate the pullout te...

simulation of tire-soil interaction using nonlinear finite element method with matlab

in this study, a simulation of tire–soil interaction model was considered with special view to two-dimensional (2-d) fem model of carcass. coefficients of mechanical behavior of silty-loam soil were accurately measured to obtain an effective simulation. the results of simulation which was implemented in matlab7, showed that the radial-ply tire had greater tractive efficiency than bias tire at t...

numerical simulation of concrete fracture under compression by explicit discrete element method

a new model is proposed for two-dimensional simulation of the concrete fracture in compression. the model generated by using the voronoi diagram method and with considering random shape and distribution of full graded aggregates at the mesoscopic level. the aggregates modeled by combining irregular polygons, which then is placed into the concrete with no intersection between them. by this new m...
